earning a letter in mesa
If a registered MESA member has completed at least the following requirements by Monday, May 6th, 2013, then he or she will receive a GHS Letter for their participation in the 2012-2013 Grants High School MESA club:
New Mexico MESA keeps official records of student participation in all MESA activities in the database called "MIMS." Entries into this database result from students' signing in to weekly meetings and other activities. The bulleted activity names above correspond precisely with the activity names in the MIMS database. Only those bulleted activities listed above count toward completing each of the attendance and participation requirements. Determining whether or not MESA members have met these requirements will be based only on the official student attendance records in the MIMS database.
If you have any questions or would like to gain access to student attendance records in the MIMS database, please inform Mr. Daunt and he will make those available to you.
- Participate in MESA for at least two (2) consecutive years.
- Attend at least 15 Meetings during the 2012 - 2013 school year. These include:
- Weekly Meetings
- Project Meetings
- Participate in at least 10 fundraising activities during the 2012-2013 school year. These include:
- Luminarias
- All other fundraising activities
- Participate in at least one (1) Service Learning activity during the 2012-2013 school year. This includes:
- Tech Support
- Mt Taylor Winter Quadrathlon
- Attend at least one (1) Field Trip, Speaker, or Workshop during the 2012-2013 school year.
- Attend or participate in at least one (1) competition during the 2012-2013 school year. This includes:
- MESA Day Pre-Trials
- MESA Day
- RoboRave
- The NM Supercomputing Challenge Final Awards Ceremony and Exposition
- Be Registered for the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters in at least one (1) math class, one (1) English class, and one (1) science class.
- Earn a "C" or better for the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters in all math, science, and English classes.
- Have no Ds or Fs in any class on one's Fall 2012 or Spring 2013 transcripts.
- Earn at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA, measured as one's cumulative GPA for all of one's high school career.
- Extra points (not required) awarded for participation in:
- Participating in other sports at GHS
- Participating in Science Fair
- Holding a MESA officer position
- Holding an officer position in any school club
- Being a positive role model
